Mean Green Shake

Based on the Mean Green Juice made famous by Joe Cross from ‘Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead‘, I’ve devised my own shake version (skin, fibers and bits included!).

The ingredients for my Mean Green shake (other variations also have spinach and frozen berries):

One blenders worth (approx 1L) is about:

  • half an apple
  • 1/4-1/3 cucumber
  • 2 sticks celery
  • handful herbs
  • handful spinach
  • handful frozen berries
  • juice of half a lemon
  • bit of ginger
  • top to the mark with cold green tea

It all goes into my Nutribullet esque blender (I actually got a Salter Nutri Pro from Robert Dyas, £50 quid including delivery), I give it a whizz and grab a spoon – it gets thick! Absolutely BANGING. <100 cals, <25g carbs, full of nutriments and filling too.

Also great potential for pretty colours, and colours = health… right?
